A new cafe with plenty of vegetarian breakfast and lunch options hopes to open in Ballston this fall.
Life Alive Cafe, which has been planning to set up shop in the former Bruegger’s Bagels space at 818 N. Quincy Street, announced plans to open this September.
“We’ve seen an incredible welcome from the D.C. community, and are thrilled to provide Virginia residents with a place to Eat Positive in order to Live Positive,” CEO Brian Timko said in a press release yesterday (Monday).
The cafe focuses on plant-based meals
- Life Alive Cafe emphasizes using “nutrient-dense recipes and organic, minimally processed ingredients” across its menu.
- It offers breakfast dishes, acai bowls, soups, coffee, smoothies and “superfood lattes” made with blue spirulina and turmeric.
- The cafe also serves grain bowls, salads and wraps packed with vegetables and toppings like crispy tofu, falafel and mushroom shawarma.
It will have seating for 80 people
- Liberty Tower’s 2,800-square-foot ground floor space can seat about 50 people indoors and about 30 people on an outdoor patio.
- Life Alive Cafe also intends to open a location at the Alexandrian Hotel in Old Town Alexandria this winter.
- These opening plans come after Life Alive opened its first D.C.-area location in the District’s West End in January.
