A new Chinese restaurant hopes to open at Westpost at National Landing in early May.
1983 Chinese Cuisine is currently wrapping up interior design and finalizing its menu at 1101 S. Joyce Street in Pentagon City, manager Cuong Vo told ARLnow. It will fill a vacancy left by Bonefish Grill last winter.
It’ll serve Cantonese dim sum
- The forthcoming menu will honor Head Chef CK Wong’s Cantonese roots. Vo declined to comment on specific dishes, but said the restaurant will offer dim sum.
- Meanwhile, teaser visuals posted at the storefront depict dumplings and salmon.
- With three private rooms and a main dining space that can seat between 120 and 150 people, 1983 plans to serve lunch and dinner in a casual atmosphere.
The restaurant has a zodiac-themed interior
- The restaurant’s name and jade green aesthetic are nods to owner Lin “Sam” Shi’s birth year. In the Chinese zodiac, 1983 is the year of the water pig.
- Meanwhile, Chef Wong’s credits go back to the 1980s, when he worked at Big Wong restaurants in D.C.’s Chinatown and Falls Church’s Eden Center.
