King Street Oyster Bar has cancelled longtime plans to open a Pentagon City restaurant.
The new oyster bar was reportedly on the rocks in December when Rappaport began marketing its leased space at 480 11th Street S. to prospective tenants. Now, the deal is officially off, a Rappaport representative told ARLnow in an email.
“Unfortunately, the deal we had working fell through,” Senior Director of Brokerage Patrick O’Meara wrote. “We are talking with numerous tenants for the space, but we’ve got some work to do before anything would be announced.”
The oyster bar’s management — which did not respond to requests for comment — initially inked a deal to open on the ground floor of Sage at National Landing apartments last February. They planned on opening it earlier this year.
The Pentagon City spot would have been the restaurant’s sixth location and third in Northern Virginia.
O’Meara said Sage’s landlord, LCOR, is interested in leasing another restaurant in the corner space, which is 5,626 square feet.
Elsewhere on the building’s ground floor, Sushi Seki — formerly Omacase Japanese Sushi — is expected to open by the end of the summer, though no official dates have been set. The restaurant changed its trade name after leasing, Rappaport confirmed.
The apartment’s third and final retail bay remains unleased.
