A combination halal steakhouse and peri peri chicken shop is closing in Crystal City, leaving its space to a Nashville-inspired chicken and burger chain.
Peri Peri Original & Kallisto Steakhouse plans to shutter sometime next month, owner Zayan Abbasi told ARLnow. Soon after, it will be converted into a new location for Abbasi’s expanding Nash and Smashed franchise.
Kallisto spent two years at 2333 S. Eads Street
- The fusion restaurant opened in May 2023, replacing a vacancy left by Kabob Palace Family Restaurant. It combined offerings from the Herndon-founded steakhouse and the United Kingdom chicken chain.
- Nash and Smashed applied for a permit at the location earlier this week. Abbasi said it is possible the franchise could open later this fall.
- “Nash and Smashed is doing great, attracting good attention, serving good food,” he said. “That’s why we are going only with Nash and Smashed.”
Ashton Heights’ Nash and Smashed is opening soon
- Another developing Nash and Smashed location at 310 N. Glebe Road is likely to open within “a month or two,” Abbasi said.
- The franchise is expanding rapidly. Nash and Smashed is currently planning about 23 new locations in the D.C. area and overseas, including in Australia, Canada and the U.K.
