Van Leeuwen sets opening date for new Ballston ice cream shop

The new Van Leeuwen Ice Cream shop in Ballston is set to open in two weeks.

The new store is set to open on Thursday, June 11, the company announced today. ARLnow first reported on the new Ballston outpost, located at 4075 Wilson Blvd, in April.

To mark the opening, Van Leeuwen will offer $1 scoops from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and hand out limited-edition tote bags to the first 100 customers, according to a press release.

The Ballston shop is one of three Northern Virginia locations the chain is opening this summer. A scoop shop at One Loudoun in Ashburn opens Tuesday, June 2, followed by an Old Town Alexandria location on Thursday, June 18.

“We’re excited to continue growing throughout Northern Virginia and bring Van Leeuwen to these incredible communities,” CEO and co-founder Ben Van Leeuwen said in the release. “We can’t wait to welcome guests in for our flavors lineup, signature sundaes, milkshakes, floats, and more.”

Each location will carry 30 of the brand’s signature flavors, including vegan options like Banana Bread Pudding with Fudge Swirls and Peanut Butter Brownie Honeycomb.

The Ballston shop will be open from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and from 11 a.m. to midnight Friday and Saturday.

The NYC-born chain opened in Crystal City in 2024 and added a Clarendon shop last October.
