A new player is entering the fitness market in south Arlington.
A Club Studio is expected to open later this year in the National Gateway complex at 3550 S. Clark Street, bringing a gym with cryotherapy services, boutique fitness classes and a “recovery lab” to the area near Potomac Yard and Crystal City.
An LA Fitness at the same address closed in December with plans to reemerge as a Club Studio within six months to a year. Fitness International, the parent company for LA Fitness, launched Club Studio in 2023 as an upscale fitness and wellness concept offering a range of classes, including yoga and pilates, coupled with “luxury amenities.”
“Having 15 years of operating history in National Gateway, we recognize the active, upwardly-mobile residential population and workforce in the area,” chief real estate officer Nick Roberts said in a statement. “We value the potential that the Arlington market holds for Club Studio, and believe that the community will thrive in our completely reimagined gym space.”
The gym is targeting an opening this winter, Roberts said. It will be the second in Northern Virginia, following one in Vienna.
A wide variety of construction equipment could be seen in the space as of Friday, but the walls and floor were still mostly bare.
