Animal hospital to join new cast of businesses under two Crystal City apartment buildings

A whole new cast of retail and service characters is developing under The Grace and Reva apartments in Crystal City.

Veterinary hospital GoodVets is the newest in a series of tenants at 1900 Crystal Drive — including a cafe, a nail salon and a bar — announced by property owner JBG Smith. These will all join the recently opened Tatte and Van Leeuwen.

GoodVets is a national company with hospitals led by local veterinarians, providing primary and urgent care and surgical services for cats and dogs. It will occupy a 2,035-square-foot space on The Grace’s ground floor, according to JBG Smith.

JBG Smith also confirmed the opening of Colada Shop at the apartments next month. Serving up empanadas, croquetas and various coffees, the D.C. area Cuban cafe and bar recently opened doors in Clarendon as well.

National hair stylist Drybar is expected to open there later this fall, according to its website. This is in addition to D.C. area nail technician Nailsaloon, whose opening date is currently unknown.

Upcoming tenants also feature three new destinations for drinks, wine and spirits.

Bar Chinois, rated Best Bar in D.C. at the 2024 RAMMY Awards, is also expected to join the street-level offerings at The Grace and Reva. The bar, with just one current district location, is known for its combination of Chinese cuisine and French wines and cocktails.

It was also recognized by the Michelin Dining Guide USA as well as the Washington Post’s Fall Dining Guide in 2022.

Another regional drink destination, the two-time James Beard semifinalist Flight Wine Bar, is slated to open as Flight Wine Shop at The Grace before the end of 2024. The original Chinatown location, a key spot in the D.C. wine scene, closed in December.

The business will not return to its sit-down bar experience, instead opting to open a bottle shop in the new space, Eater DC reported.

Meanwhile, Bar Colline will open in early 2025. A new project of regional restaurateur brothers Ian and Eric Hilton, the bar will pair shareable plates with “a selection of fun wines and inventive cocktails,” according to JBG Smith.

Bar Colline will be a sister to French bistro-style eatery Cafe Colline on Langston Blvd.
