Compass Coffee opening ‘Ballston West’ location this weekend

Ballston’s second Compass Coffee will open to the public this weekend with some giveaways.

The new cafe at 4300 Wilson Blvd, which the company has dubbed “Ballston West,” will hold its grand opening this Saturday. The first 100 customers who show up after the coffee shop opens at 6:30 a.m. will receive $25 gift cards.

A press release advertises “a spacious and bright interior featuring large windows, a massive wraparound bar, and a convenient location on Wilson Blvd.”

Select customers and community members will tour the new space at a “Friends and Family Day” tomorrow (Friday).

The cafe was formerly occupied by another coffee shop, Slipstream, and is just a couple of blocks from Ballston’s first Compass Coffee at 4100 Wilson Blvd. The second Compass joins a number of other nearby coffee spots, including Good Company Doughnuts & Cafe, Ballstonian, several Starbucks locations, and Gute Leute, which recently had its front window damaged by gunfire.

A manager at the Compass Coffee on 4100 Wilson Blvd previously confirmed that the first location is expected to remain open alongside the new one.

The D.C.-based chain now has 19 total locations across the region, including Arlington locations in Rosslyn and on Langston Blvd. The new cafe’s hours are 6:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 6:30 a.m.-6:30 p.m. on weekends.
