‘The Pinball Basement’ opens second arcade above Rosslyn Metro station

An Arlington pinball arcade has opened a second location above the Rosslyn Metro station.

The Pinball Basement is now operating on the first level of 1700 N. Moore Street underneath the Upside on Moore food hall, Upside Director of Operations Sam Groh told ARLnow. The arcade offers daily playing passes and monthly memberships.

The Pinball Basement’s original location, which is inside Acme Pie Co., recently relocated along with the pie shop to 2406 Columbia Pike.

It’s a larger space with more games

  • Fred Freimark and Jason Good founded The Pinball Basement in late 2023.
  • The Rosslyn arcade offers more space and game options, as well as a kiosk for ordering refreshments from elsewhere in the food hall.
  • The arcade hopes to host over 20 pinball machines, about five “retro arcade” and video games, a foosball table and bubble hockey, Groh said.

The grand opening is May 17

  • It will feature food and drink specials, plus giveaways of free daily passes, Upside gift cards, pinball “swag” and one free month membership.
  • Ahead of the grand opening, the hall will host the “Less Pie, More WPPRS” tournament at noon on Saturday, May 10. Participation is $20.
  • Customers can expect regular pinball tournaments once per month on Saturdays and a weekly pinball league on Thursday nights, starting May 22.

Soft opening hours are limited

  • The arcade is currently open from 4-9 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, and from 1-10 p.m. on Saturdays.
  • After the grand opening, regular hours are expected to be 4-9 p.m. Monday through Friday and 1-10 p.m. on Saturdays.
