A summer of events is winding down this month at Pentagon City’s Metropolitan Park.
Live music, outdoor movies, crafts and a celebration of National Banana Split Day are all coming to the park over the next few weeks, courtesy of partnerships between Amazon and local businesses.
Cars and Coffee
On S. Elm Street, which borders Met Park, classic car owners will convene for a morning of checking out each others rides and sipping coffee from local vendors. The event is open to the entire community, not just those with old cars, and it will run throughout August.
Good Company Doughnuts & Cafe is the only confirmed coffee shop participating, but Amazon spokesperson Amanda Cruz said there could be others as the month goes on.

MoCA on the Move
This summer-long event in the park, hosted by the Museum of Contemporary Art Arlington, features arts and crafts stations for both children and adults, as well as live music.

National Banana Split Day falls on Aug. 25, a Monday this year, and Amazon is hosting an event for the second straight summer.
“In partnership with our HQ2 retailers, Toby’s Ice Cream and MoCA, we’re serving up free banana splits, live music, and family-friendly art activities,” Cruz said. “It’s our way of bringing a little whimsy to HQ2 while celebrating the community we’re proud to be part of.”
Toby’s will provide scoops of ice cream, and then people can go to Amazon’s “Banana Split Bar” to add toppings. MoCA will also provide arts and crafts.
