A new wine bar with a selection of vinyl records and a cafe with a gourmet market are coming to Crystal City.
Both Altitude Wine Bar and Constellation, a cafe and gourmet market, will be installed at 2011 Crystal Drive — adjacent to the forthcoming pedestrian bridge connecting Crystal City to the airport. Episcope Hospitality, the group behind Water Park, plans to construct both establishments “inspired by the elegance of the golden age of travel and exploration.”
Both are expected to open in January.
Altitude’s look will be inspired by air travel
- The wine bar will have a wine expert on the premises to “guide guests through selections ranging from cult classics to cellar-worthy vintages, offering stories behind every pour.”
- The bar will be designed to “resemble an airplane wing cross section,” with furnishings that “create an atmosphere of sophisticated comfort akin to the in-flight lounges on intercontinental flights of the 1950s and 60s,” a press release says.
- It will also come with an “audiophile listening room” offering a wide selection of vinyl records.
Constellation will serve coffee and made-to-order meals
- The cafe will offer both specialty espresso and whole bean coffee “from a variety of roasters.”
- To eat, Constellation will focus on “heartier plates,” such as rigatoni bolognese, pasta primavera and pan-seared salmon.
- “A thoughtful retail section will include prepared foods, specialty ingredients, elevated snacks, and everyday conveniences, perfect for workdays, travel times, and everything in between,” a press release says.
Information on operating hours for both businesses has not yet been released.
