The money is about to start flowing, but the details remain a work in progress on redevelopment of a key portion of Reagan National Airport.
The board of directors of the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority (MWAA) last month agreed to spend up to $108 million over an eight-year span for architectural and engineering services in preparation for redeveloping Terminal 1 and adjacent areas at the airport.
The westbound lanes of Langston Blvd were blocked during the morning commute today due to a potentially serious crash.
A preliminary investigation indicates that a garbage truck struck an adult pedestrian around 8:48 a.m., while turning onto Langston Blvd along the busy artery at N. Ottawa Street, according to Arlington County police spokeswoman Ashley Savage.
Arlington’s GOP chair is crying foul over what he says are attacks on the party’s campaign signage.
“Not a day goes by that I don’t hear from Republican voters about stolen, damaged or vandalized Republican yard signs,” Arlington County Republican Committee chair Matthew Hurtt told ARLnow. He pegged assaults on signs in the hundreds.

Sentencing for Double Slaying — “Francis Deonte Rose was sentenced today to 58 years in prison for the 2022 shooting deaths of two construction workers in the West End… Rose was released from jail in Arlington just three months before the incident occurred. Cold Case Guilty Plea — “An ex-Army soldier has pleaded guilty to killing a woman at her West Springfield home in 1994, Fairfax County Commonwealth’s Attorney Steve Descano announced today (Friday). One month later, it happened again.
The Tourneau luxury watch store at the Pentagon City mall is the scene of another dramatic smash-and-grab robbery involving a group of thieves armed with a hammer and fire extinguishers. It follows a nearly identical robbery on Sept. 1 that prompted ultimately unfounded fears of an active shooter and an evacuation of the mall.

The incident occurred around 2:45 p.m. in the 900 block of Army Navy Drive, near the Westpost at National Landing shopping center.
Terminal 1 at Reagan National Airport will briefly shut down this weekend for an emergency drill.
The terminal at DCA will close to the public at approximately 11:30 p.m. tomorrow (Saturday) and reopen around 1:30 a.m. on Sunday.
Two major transportation upgrades at Reagan National Airport have gotten the greenlight from the National Park Service.
The agency gave its blessing to a planned pedestrian bridge connecting Crystal City to the airport as well as proposed improvements to the airport’s roads.
