In an unprecedented collaboration, 13 real estate firms are joining forces to provide winter essentials for those in need throughout the Arlington community. The firms are working together as Arlington Realtors Care (ARC) to collect from the public donated food and clothing items. These items will then be delivered from their offices to The Arlington Food Assistance Center and A-Span. The food and clothing drive started on Nov. 1 and will continue through Dec. 31. The goal of the ARC drive is to bring aid to those most in need.

For members of the public who are interested in donating, the main drop off point is at RGS Title located at 4600 Lee Highway, Suite 110, Arlington. They will host two community wide drop off dates on Nov. 19 and Dec. 17. Items will be delivered from the participating ARC partners to the individual charitable organizations. Clothing items will be delivered to A-SPAN, an organization that strives to end homelessness in Arlington through housing and ongoing case management. Food donations will be delivered to The Arlington Food Assistance Center, a community-based non-profit that provides supplemental groceries to Arlington residents.

Hot stone massage is a natural therapy in which warmed stones are positioned on parts of the client’s body of to maximize the therapeutic benefit. The stones used are typically river rocks or other very smooth-surfaced stones made of basalt. These stones are heated in sanitizing water before use. The high iron content in basalt helps the stones retain heat during the massage. Hot stone massages are beneficial on both physical and psychological levels. Always check with your doctor before getting a hot stone massage; individuals with certain conditions–including pregnant women and people with high blood pressure–are advised to avoid this type of therapy.

Fusion’s innovative learning model offers complete customization for each student, wherever they are in their educational path, and focuses on creating a real emotional connection. Located at 333 John Carlyle Street, Suite 100, the Alexandria campus is among 37 Fusion schools across the country.

“In working with families at Vive, we often come across young people who are struggling with school issues – behavioral, academic, truancy, etc. The best outcomes tend to come from a combination of support at home and a good match between the young person’s needs and their educational program,” said Christopher Lee, MA LCPC, Clinical Team Lead at Vive Family Support Program D.C., which provides therapeutic mentorship, parent coaching and counseling. “Fusion’s emphasis on providing one-on-one instruction well mirrors our values at Vive of showing up for our families and providing the individualized support required at that moment. We are excited to see Fusion’s unique program added to the range of options available to families in the DC area.”
