An 18-year-old Arlington man and several teen boys have been charged in connection to a pair of linked incidents earlier this week, including a shot fired near Ballston.

Around noon on Tuesday a male victim was robbed of clothes in the stairwell of a parking garage on the 600 block of N. Glebe Road — which corresponds with the Ballston mall garage. The man and two teens were later arrested and face several charges, according to Arlington County police.

Several schools were secured this morning after a report of shots fired in the Buckingham neighborhood near Ballston.

It happened just before 9:15 a.m. At least two 911 callers reported hearing gunfire and seeing a group of teens running from the area, according to scanner traffic.

Arlington County police responded to several serious incidents over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, according to the latest ACPD crime report.

A man was stabbed Friday morning at the Apex Apartments on S. Glebe Road. Police arrested a 50-year-old Arlington resident who, they said, knew the victim.

An Arlington man who shot and killed a man in a Buckingham apartment was sentenced to 33 years in state prison yesterday (Monday).

James Ray Williams, 42, received 30 years for the murder of Sean “Malik” Bowman in 2023. He also received a three-year sentence for the use of a firearm during the commission of a felony, in addition to another seven years because he was on probation when he committed these crimes.

(Updated at 3/13/24) A senior living community in Arlington is set to receive significant new support from the federal government.

Congress passed an appropriations bill last week that, among other things, allocated $2 million to Culpepper Garden, Arlington’s sole low-income senior retirement community. It’s home to 365 seniors aged 62 and older.

(Updated at 11 a.m.) The McDonald’s on N. Glebe Road in the Buckingham neighborhood is on track to get a second drive-thru lane.

The fast food restaurant at 40 N. Glebe Road plans to add another queuing lane leading up to the existing drive-thru window, increasing how many customers can place orders at the same time. The change is expected to bring shorter lines, cutting down on the amount of cars that back up onto the road, according to a county report.

A 43-year-old Arlington man is in jail after an overnight barricade situation in the Buckingham neighborhood.

The incident started around 12:30 a.m. with what was reported as a woman’s ex-boyfriend kicking down her door and confronting her and her current boyfriend with a knife.

A crash ended in a vehicle overturned this morning near Ballston.

The wreck happened in the Buckingham neighborhood, on N. Henderson Road near the intersection with 4th Road N., around 7:15 a.m. That’s about a block from Barrett Elementary School.
