The woman-owned shop in East Falls Church has planned a day of giveaways from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. this Saturday at 2200 N. Westmoreland Street.

One of the few remaining pieces of an abandoned railroad in East Falls Church is about to receive public recognition.

The Historical Affairs and Landmark Review Board (HALRB) on March 19 approved the design of a commemorative marker to be located adjacent to remnants of a train trestle next to Washington and Old Dominion Railroad Regional Park.

Two men are facing allegations of assaulting first responders in separate incidents in Virginia Square and Pentagon City last week.

The first incident started around 4:30 p.m. Friday, a block away from the Virginia Square Metro station. A shoplifting suspect led officers on a brief foot chase, fled on a Metro train, exited at East Falls Church and then ran on the tracks before being taken into custody nearby, according to Arlington County police.

Controversy is heating up around a proposed six-unit development near the East Falls Church Metro station.

The Board of Zoning Appeals (BZA) is scheduled to vote tomorrow (Wednesday) on whether to uphold a decision to approve an Expanded Housing Option permit for the property, located at 2315 N. Tuckahoe Street.

Changes could be coming to a segment of the Four Mile Run Trail in East Falls Church as a streetscape improvement project moves forward.

The new design, according to a staff report for the Arlington County Board meeting on Saturday, would create a straighter trail spur that directly connects to the intersection of N. Sycamore and 19th Street N.

The Ballston Metro station is closed due to a power issue that has split the Orange and Silver lines in two.

Metro reported the issue on social media around 12:45 p.m. Metrobuses and shuttle buses have replaced trains between Clarendon, Virginia Square and East Falls Church.

An East Falls Church woman was killed by her husband in December in a murder-suicide, Arlington County police announced today.

Maria T. MacKnight worked as an acupuncturist, according to her website. Police say she and her husband, Gregory Cunningham, both died of “intentional carbon monoxide poisoning” in early December, at their house on N. Powhatan Street.

A larger, more accessible bus loop may soon be coming to the East Falls Church Metro station.

The Arlington County Board on Saturday approved a $527,681 project-coordination agreement with the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority. This is part of a $12.7 million plan to provide the station with additional routes, expanded passenger capacity and improvements to parking and crosswalks.

A local Arlington bookstore, One More Page, will celebrate its 13th anniversary next Friday.

People can stop by the East Falls Church bookstore at 2200 N. Westmoreland Street from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 26. to enjoy cake and refreshments and have the chance to win prizes. The event was originally scheduled for today but moved back a week due to the snow.

The outage appeared to be centered around the East Falls Church Metro station, affecting several northwestern Arlington neighborhoods including Westover.
