The Arlington Police Department has released its crime report for the past week. The report includes new details about last weekend’s abduction and sexual assault, which we reported yesterday.

ARMED ROBBERY/ABDUCTION 02/27/10, 600 block of N. Wakefield Street. On February 27 at 4 am, a man approached two women from behind. He displayed a handgun and forced them into a house. He restrained both women inside, and then forced one to leave the area with him. The victim was found suffering from serious injuries in Prince William County. A suspect was later arrested on separate Abduction charges.

Jorge “George” Torrez, a 21-year-old Marine stationed at Fort Myer’s Henderson Hall, was arrested over the weekend and charged in the Feb. 10 attempted abduction of a woman from the 1700 block of N. Quincy Street.

Torrez is also suspected in the abduction, sexual assault and near-fatal beating of a woman from N. Wakefield Street in Ballston early Saturday morning, according to police.

Planes Clip Wings at Reagan National Airport — Two US Airways were involved in a minor collision while on the tarmac at Reagan National Saturday morning. Nobody was injured, but both planes were taken out of service and passengers were booked on other flights. More from ABC7.

Arlington Spent $5 Million on Snow Removal — Arlington County spent $5 million on snow removal this winter, five times the normal snow removal budget. No word yet on how much of the budget went to the contractors who helped keep streets passable during February’s big snow storms. More from the Sun Gazette.

An Arlington police officer was sent to the hospital after his parked cruiser was struck by a suspected drunk driver.

The officer was on a traffic detail on the 1700 block of N. Glebe Road at 2:00 a.m. this morning when a car slammed into his cruiser. Luis Alonso Argueta-Amaya, 23, of Woodbridge was arrested a few blocks away and charged with DWI and Felony Hit and Run.

RESISTING ARREST-ARREST 02/18/10, 2200 block of S. Kenmore Street. On February 18 at 1:45 am when an officer attempted to arrest a man for an outstanding warrant, the suspect fought the officer and fled the area on foot. The suspect was apprehended and found to be in possession of narcotics. John Hart, 46, of Arlington, was charged with Resisting Arrest and Possession of Narcotics. He was held without bond.

ASSAULT AND BATTERY-ARREST 02/18/10, 4100 block of S. Walter Reed Drive. On February 18 at 5 pm, a man assaulted another man after a road rage incident. Pablo Lopez, 38, of Arlington, was charged with Assault and Battery. He was released on a summons.

Firefighters will use their recently-acquired Mobile Emergency Response Vehicles (MERVs) to travel through the tunnels. MERVs, which were used during the 2005 bombing of the London Underground, can reduce the time it takes first-responders to reach underground victims from 45 minutes to 4 minutes.

The exercise will take place between 9 AM and noon. The $1.2 million in funding for it came from a federal Homeland Security grant.
