An institution in the D.C. area adult entertainment scene is changing hands to a regional chain.

Crystal City Restaurant and Gentlemen’s Club (422 23rd Street S.) has been sold to Paper Moon, which operates other gentlemen’s clubs in Richmond, Northern Virginia and D.C. It’s only the second time the family-owned business has transferred ownership in its 62-year history.

A Ballston lunch spot and corner store has shuttered after five years.

D.C.-based Union Kitchen closed its lone Arlington location at 4104 Wilson Blvd last week. The business opened at 4104 Wilson Blvd, between Punch Bowl Social and Compass Coffee, in summer 2020.

A seafood restaurant in Clarendon has had its locks changed and the landlord has retaken possession of the property.

A note posted on the door of Seamore’s yesterday (Monday) informed the tenant that Regency Centers has initiated a “self-help eviction” at 2815 Clarendon Blvd, in The Crossing Clarendon shopping center.

An Afghan restaurant across the street from Ballston Quarter has closed after a little less than three years in business.

Grill Kabob, which opened in early 2023 and was one of 14 D.C.-area locations for the family-owned chain, is now listed as “permanently closed” on Google. It provided the following storefront message.

Stories posted by Carbonara (3865 Wilson Blvd) show Biden dining with a man who appears to be former defense secretary Lloyd Austin, though the dining companion is not identified by name in the videos.

An entrepreneur behind some big names in D.C.’s nightlife scene has turned his attention to Arlington, taking the reins of a Clarendon restaurant.

Antonis Karagounis became the new owner of Wilson Hardware earlier this month at 2915 Wilson Blvd, where he intends to introduce a different, as-yet-unnamed restaurant concept in the new year.

Changes are coming to a longtime pizzeria and American restaurant in Courthouse.

The family that had owned Fire Works Pizza since 2010 is departing, having passed the torch to local restaurateur Fitzgerald Lewis earlier this month. The entrepreneur, whose resume also includes the Clarendon restaurants Green Pig Bistro and Buena Vida, intends to refresh the 15-year-old restaurant with new furnishings and a new name next year.

Falafel Inc opened last week at 500 23rd Street S. after departing its previous Crystal City kiosk at 1601 Crystal Drive. The D.C.-based chain, known for its affordability and award-winning falafel, replaces a bank that closed in 2023.

Lost Dog Cafe will serve its last pies at 2920 Columbia Pike this week after 16 years in business there. The closure comes months after the local business’s owner shared concerns of flagging sales amid ongoing roadwork.
