(Updated at 4 p.m.) A vehicle has overturned on the GW Parkway near the Roosevelt Bridge.

The crash happened around 3:30 p.m. Initial reports suggest the vehicle crossed several lanes of traffic before running off the side of the southbound GW Parkway.

Initial reports suggest a car and a Jeep collided head-on and another car ran into a light pole at the intersection of S. Glebe Road and 12th Street, in front of the Post Office. Medics are evaluating vehicle occupants for injuries.

One southbound lane of Glebe is currently blocked just south of Columbia Pike, according to scanner traffic. Drivers should expect significant traffic impacts in the area.

(Updated at 10:30 a.m.) Military Road is closed between 30th and 31st Streets N. due to a reported downed tree and power lines.

It appears that a large tree fell on lines and and across the road. Crews from Arlington County, Dominion and a tree contractor are on the scene.

The children-only triathlon includes a swimming race, a bike race and a run. The race will begin in the pool at Washington-Lee High School, followed by a loop bike course and a flat run on the outdoor track at Washington-Lee.

“The races are intended to encourage children to have fun while participating in physical activities,” according to an online event listing. “The swim-bike-run disciplines of triathlon are life-long sports that support a healthy lifestyle from childhood through adulthood.”

Police have closed a section of N. Glebe Road where it intersects Lee Highway after road construction crews hit a gas line.

Crews accidentally hit the line near the Wells Fargo bank, leaving a distinct odor of gas in the surrounding area.
