The Wakefield Warriors continued a solid boys soccer season with a recent 2-1 victory over the Yorktown Patriots in an all-Arlington clash.
That victory, coupled with 4-1 win over Marshall in another recent match then a 2-1 loss to the Washington-Liberty Generals in another all-Arlington match, gave Wakefield an overall record of 7-4-2.
A light morning rain reduced the number of entries in the third Wakefield High School Car Show, but some 25 classics were still on site in the school’s parking lot for the Saturday (April 26) event.
A number of the entries were graduates of Wakefield, with a number of current students on hand observing the various cars and trucks.
With most of the finals in each race canceled because of afternoon thunderstorms, the Wakefield Warriors’ crew program still had a strong showing at the annual Al Urquia Regatta.

Once members of rival boys high-school basketball teams in Arlington, this past winter Alan Treakle and Liam Vitters played different roles for the same Division I men’s college squad that won a national championship.
Treakle, a Wakefield High School graduate, was the director of basketball operations, and Yorktown High grad Vitters was a walk-on freshman forward for the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga Mocs, which won the National Invitational Tournament with a 5-0 record.
