Arlington dining news: Valentine’s Day specials, ‘aperitivo hour’ & more

The local food scene is humming along this month, with D.C.-area Restaurant Week ongoing and Falls Church Restaurant Week approaching.

In coming weeks, diners can expect special Valentine’s Day menus and events, an extended happy hour in Shirlington and wine workshops in Pentagon City. Meanwhile, a new beer garden is confirmed to join Crystal City later this year.

Crystal City beer garden gets green light

  • Scapegoat Beer Garden has received the Arlington County Board’s approval to move forward with plans to open at 556 22nd Street S.
  • The restaurant plans to serve Asian comfort foods, bar snacks and all kinds of libations, with a focus on beer, owner Kendrick Wu told ARLnow.
  • An opening date is not yet set, though it will likely happen sometime in late spring or early summer, Wu said.

Longer happy hour coming to Corso Italian

  • The new times for the restaurant’s “aperitivo hour” are 3-7 p.m. daily starting Monday, Feb. 3.
  • Draft beers and six featured appetizers are $5. Try olives and pecorino cheese, Calabrian meatballs or seared tuna crudo.
  • Glasses of wine, cocktails and zero-proof beverages are $9 each.

Valentine’s Day options at Water Park

  • Crush Pizza & Wine is offering a heart-shaped pizza with any bottle of wine for $45 from Feb. 10-15 at the park, located at 1601 Crystal Drive.
  • A Galentine’s Day movie night will show “How To Love a Guy In 10 Days” alongside charcuterie, wine and oysters at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 13.
  • At $60 per person, the park is offering a Valentine’s-themed cocktail class with charcuterie and dessert pairings at 6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 15.

Romantic prix fixe dinners

  • Buena Vida Gastrolounge has a four-course Valentine’s Day meal with tres leches or chocolate cake for dessert. At $80 per person, a glass of champagne is included.
  • V-Day reservations are available at Immigrant Food in Ballston. A four-course dinner at $75 per person offers entrees like ribeye aguachile and roasted branzino grenoblois.

Wine and sake tastings in Pentagon City

  • The Pentagon City Wine Merchant hosts $5 wine classes from 5-8 p.m. every Friday with a rotating theme.
  • A candle-making workshop and wine tasting is taking place Saturday, Feb. 1, and a free sake tasting is scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 13.
  • For Valentine’s Day, the shop is offering a Bordeaux-themed class with chocolates and flowers, a “Valentine’s Favorites” wine class and a floral arranging workshop.
