New all-you-can-eat sushi restaurant coming to Columbia Pike

An all-you-can-eat sushi spot is replacing the shuttered Takohachi Japanese Restaurant on Columbia Pike.

Signs for the new restaurant, MoMoGoGo, have appeared at a storefront at 2501 Columbia Pike in Penrose Square, where Takohachi closed earlier this year. MoMoGoGo — which plans to serve “fresh sushi & Japanese cuisine,” according to its website — has received work permits and is currently hiring.

“At MoMoGoGo, we’ve reinvented the All-You-Can-Eat (AYCE) model,” the business said in a Facebook post on May 1. “Forget pre-made buffet lines; our menu is made-to-order, ensuring every roll, piece of nigiri, and appetizer arrives at your table fresh, vibrant, and beautifully plated.”

Takohachi had previously been in business for nearly a decade on Columbia Pike under chef and owner Tsutomu Nakano. It’s unclear if MoMoGoGo, which plans to offer similar cuisine, is a rebrand or an entirely new business.

A Google profile for Takohachi continues to list the business as “temporarily closed.” The restaurant did not respond to social media or email inquiries, and a phone number for the business has since been disconnected.

Before Takohachi, 2501 Columbia Pike was home to a string of restaurants that never made it past three years in business: Josephine’s Italian Kitchen, Marble & Rye and RedRocks Neapolitan Bistro.

Other business changes along Columbia Pike this year include Bluefish Bistro closing at Centro Arlington last month and Cornerstone closing its doors at 2900 Columbia Pike last weekend.

MoMoGoGo, which did not return a request for comment, plans to be open from 11 a.m.-9 p.m. daily. More details on the new eatery, including a menu and opening date, are still to come.
