Work has begun to create a new Crystal City pedestrian plaza with office, retail, and restaurant space.
The Century Center office complex — at 2450 Crystal Drive and 2461 S. Clark Street in Crystal City — is undergoing major renovations. The project will result in a new pedestrian and retail plaza between Century Center’s two buildings.
Arlington saw a slight dip in Covid cases mid-month, during the Arlington Public Schools spring break, but cases are back on a relatively slow upward trajectory this week.
After the seven-day moving average broke the 100 daily case mark last week, that same figure stands at 110 cases per day today, according to Virginia Dept. of Health data.
Last week, Arlington welcomed more than 20 global technology companies for the Arlington Tech Launchpad, a three-day immersive business program connecting global firms with the region’s innovation, talent and business networks, led by Arlington Economic Development.
These companies came from 10 countries including the United Kingdom, Germany, Japan, Canada, Latvia, Estonia and Argentina, bringing diverse perspectives, cutting-edge technologies and a shared ambition to establish or expand a U.S. presence.
Throughout the program, founders and executives engaged with Arlington-based leaders, entrepreneurs and academic partners, exchanging ideas shaped by different industries, cultures and lived experiences, the kind of cross-sector collaboration that fuels both innovation and business growth.
Over the three days, participants met with leading organizations including Amazon and Amazon Web Services, SAIC, RTX, Safran, Hanwha and FedTech, as well as academic institutions like George Mason University, Marymount University and Virginia Tech. These interactions weren’t just introductory, they were intentional and strategic, designed to spark partnerships, unlock opportunities and accelerate pathways to commercialization and local expansion.
Programs like the Tech Launchpad are more than short-term recruitment efforts. They are long-term investments in Arlington’s economic vitality and regional competitiveness, positioning Arlington at the forefront of global innovation while ensuring that growth translates into local jobs, office demand and community impact. Jogger Robbed Near Rosslyn — “The victim was jogging in the area when the unknown male suspect approached, grabbed her by the arm and pushed her away while attempting to remove her cell phone from her hand. A brief struggle ensued, during which the suspect stole the victim’s cell phone before fleeing the scene in a white sedan. Arlington County police are kicking off the annual spring Street Smart safety campaign tomorrow with targeted traffic enforcement in Rosslyn.
The region-wide road safety campaign “focuses on educating drivers, pedestrians and bicyclists about traffic laws and how to safely share our roadway.” The campaign includes the personal testimonials of crash survivors, including two from Arlington.

(Updated at 12:35 p.m.) The West Glebe Road bridge over Four Mile Run will be completely closed to vehicles in two weeks, and will remain closed for nearly a year.
The circa-1956 bridge, which connects Arlington and Alexandria near the I-395/S. Glebe Road interchange, has been deemed “structurally deficient” since 2018. A $10 million project to replace its deck and beams was approved by the Arlington County Board last April and was slated to start this year, but in the meantime engineers have found “continued degradation of the bridge beams.”
