Speed Cams on for Summer School — “The Arlington Public Schools (APS) Summer School Program will run from July 7 through August 1, 2025. To ensure the safety of students as they arrive and depart from school each day, PhotoSPEED safety cameras located at Summer School locations will remain operational throughout the duration of summer learning.” [ACPD]
Arrest After Bus Shelter Smashed — “The man we showed getting arrested by @ArlingtonVaPD at East Falls Church Metro is being investigated by @MetroTransitPD after this bus shelter was smashed last night.” [Dave Statter/X]
Woman Assaulted After Opening Door — “At approximately 12:59 p.m. on June 19, police were dispatched to the report of a suspicious person. Upon arrival, it was determined the female suspect knocked on the female victim’s door. When the victim opened the door, the suspect grabbed the victim, forcing her out of the residence, before making entry to the home. The victim sustained serious, non-life threatening injuries and was transported to an area hospital.” [ACPD]
Shoplifting Arrest in Courthouse Metro — “An officer was inside a business when an employee reported a shoplifting just occurred. A lookout was broadcast and the officer located an individual matching the description of the suspect inside the Courthouse Metro Station. The officer attempted to detain the suspect during which he was non-compliant. With the assistance of additional responding officers, he was taken into custody. While in custody, the suspect grabbed two officers.” [ACPD]

JBG Looking Outside Nat’l Landing — “JBG Smith Properties Inc. has made it official: The Bethesda developer acknowledged Friday that it’s actively exploring acquisition opportunities beyond National Landing. Va. Home Prices Rise — “There were 10,649 closed sales across the commonwealth in May, 66 fewer sales than a year ago—a 0.6% decrease. Despite lower sales levels, home prices continued to rise in most local markets. Virginia’s median sales price was $440,000 in May, up $15,000 since last year, reflecting a 3.5% increase.” [Press Release]

Question: Why would anybody waste thousands of dollars each year on condo fees?
Answer: Most people associate paying condo fees with throwing money down the drain, but most people do not look at condo fees the right way.
In this June 20 article, the Wall Street Journal reported a study by Angi (formerly Angie’s List) that home maintenance and emergency repairs have increased by 85% and 175%, respectively, from 2019 to 2025.
By comparison, condo fees in Arlington increased by an average of just 32% from 2019 to 2025, making them a steep bargain for condo owners compared to other homeowners.

Two Harris Teeter stores in Arlington are closing this summer, the company confirmed Monday night.
The grocery stores — at 950 S. George Mason Drive and 3600 S. Glebe Road — are among four D.C. area Harris Teeter locations set to close. Also closing are stores in North Bethesda and at 8200 Crestwood Heights Drive in the Tysons area.
