Gov. Glenn Youngkin (R) on Thursday vetoed bills that would have legalized the sale of retail marijuana in Virginia and raised the state’s minimum wage. State Sen. Adam Ebbin (D), who represents part of Arlington and Fairfax County as well as Alexandria, co-sponsored both bills.

A group of juvenile suspects is facing an array of charges following a reported armed robbery in Pentagon City.
The incident happened around 4:45 p.m. on Easter Sunday in the area of the Westpost shopping center. Police say a teen girl had just parked when two girls from a group of seven juvenile suspects stole her keys, leading to a confrontation in which the suspects threatened the victim with pepper spray and what turned out to be an airsoft gun.

Church Development Plan ‘On Hold’ — “The two partners in June of 2023 applied to the Arlington County government for a zoning change that would allow the construction of a building that could accommodate as many as 92 residential apartments for seniors 55 or 62 and older… Garrett Jackson, APAH’s Director of Resource Development and Communications, told the Blade that APAH on behalf of the church asked the Zoning Administrator to put the application on hold while the church and APAH consider revisions for the project.” [Washington Blade]

A 39-year-old Arlington man with a notable criminal history is facing more charges after an incident over the weekend.
