Green Pig Bistro is relocating from its home of more than 12 years, but might not be going far.

The restaurant’s last day at 1025 N. Fillmore Street is scheduled for late September, an employee told ARLnow. Green Pig may then move down the road to 2900 Wilson Blvd, where it will share a building with Buena Vida Gastrolounge, we’re told. But the deal is not final and at least one other location is being considered, the restaurant’s ownership says.

A forthcoming restaurant and nightclub in Clarendon is seeking to bring a more refined approach to cocktails and diner food.

Industry veteran Michael Sina is the man behind Cielo Restaurant, which is expected to open later this year as an upscale diner in the daytime and a nightlife destination after dark.

The Ballston Metro station is closed due to a power issue that has split the Orange and Silver lines in two.

A developer is seeking to build fewer parking spots at a Clarendon apartment building, despite objections from two civic associations.

A requested site plan amendment for the Joyce Motors project would remove a portion of a planned parking garage, reducing the number of residential parking spots from 155 to 119. Developer Orr Partners also seeks to build 10 fewer residential units — 231 as opposed to 241 — but increase the project’s gross floor area by 1,629 square feet.

Change appears to be coming to the Clarendon building housing music venue B Live and rooftop bar Coco B’s.

The property at 2854 Wilson Blvd, built in 1951 and formerly home to longtime local bar Whitlow’s, has been listed for sale or lease online. A brochure says the first floor and rooftop space, totalling nearly 8,000 square feet, “can be leased separately or together.”

Efforts to open the long-awaited Clarendon Wine Club are once again underway.

The planned establishment at 1114 N. Irving Street has applied for two work permits this summer, including one last week. However, the bar’s interior buildout was already completed during the pandemic, according to one of the owners.


Events

The Paris Olympics start later this month and tomorrow (Saturday) in Arlington, a new competition will emerge: the Grabber Olympics, for Northern Virginia’s litter-picker-uppers.

The inaugural event will begin at 11 a.m. by the Clarendon Metro station for a two-hour community cleanup with volunteer nonprofit NOVA Cleanups, sister of District Cleanups. Anyone is welcome to sign up and participate.

Billiards, Bites and Beverages is expected to open at 3200 Wilson Blvd, the distinctive former site of the neighborhood’s Silver Diner location, according to permits.
