A large new coworking space will breathe new life into the former Artisphere in Rosslyn this fall.
Coworking firm Spaces expects to open its new Artisphere location in November. The location will feature 22,000 square feet of office space, an event space, an outdoor patio and a gym with showers, we’re told.
Serene Al-Momen and her team were in a different coworking office when she heard that WeWork was opening up a space in suburban Virginia. She had already seen what WeWork has to offer, so it didn’t take much convincing for her to book a tour of the new building in Tysons.
“We felt like it was a good place for the team,” says Al-Momen. “It was just perfect.”

The building at 1101 Wilson Boulevard will host a “flexible workspace,” called “Spaces,” from office space provider Regus, according to a news release from real estate firm Monday Properties.
Geared toward tech businesses, the redeveloped property will have an open layout that is intended to encourage collaboration among workers.
MakeOffices opened its 40,000 square foot, flagship Clarendon co-working space on June 1. This Thursday, June 16, the company will be celebrating with a “can’t miss” launch party — and you’re invited.
“Enjoy our tasty cocktails and drinks, indulge in food from local hotspots, and rock out to a live band,” says the event’s RSVP page. “Weather-permitting we’ll take the party out on the patio with cornhole. Come mingle with us and meet [hundreds of] fellow movers and shakers.”
County Board Debate Preaches to Choir — Arlington County Board candidates Libby Garvey and Erik Gutshall participated in a debate Sunday night. Reported the Washington Post: “Nearly all the 50 people in the Campbell Elementary School audience Sunday night were campaign workers or committed supporters for each candidate.” In a new line of attack, Gutshall criticized Garvey for a $250 donation from a real estate developer she accepted in 2011. Campaign Criticism Prompts Reactions — Supporters of County Board candidate Erik Gutshall have penned a joint statement defending some of his attacks on Libby Garvey as substantive policy issues. However, there appears to be something of a backlash to two of Gutshall’s campaign mailers — at least among those who write letters to the Sun Gazette. County Board member Christian Dorsey, meanwhile, has published a statement on what he says is a “mischaracterization” of Garvey’s (and thus, the Board’s) record.
