Celebrations of nature and environmental protection are happening across Arlington and Falls Church in honor of Earth Day today (Tuesday).

An array of nature hikes, stream cleanups, yoga sessions and other activities are scheduled to continue through this weekend and beyond, offering local residents a chance to participate in the global effort to support conservation.

The Arlington Festival of the Arts returns to Clarendon this weekend, bringing back its free outdoor arts showcase for an 11th year.

The annual festival — featuring paintings, sculptures, jewelry and photography from over 125 artists — will take place from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. this Saturday and Sunday at 1051 N. Highland Street.

A pop-up art gallery, breakdancing competition and night market are happening in Pentagon City this Friday to commemorate the cherry blossom bloom.

The free event, Art of Pink, will take place from 5-10 p.m. at Met Park on 1321 S. Elm Street.

Green Valley’s annual summer celebration is scheduled to return this weekend.

Food vendors, a moon bounce and live music will be coming to the area around Charles R. Drew Elementary School this Saturday at the annual Green Valley Day.

Late September marks the halfway point to St. Patrick’s Day, and in Shirlington, it also means the return of the neighborhood’s annual Celtic Festival.

The free festivities take place from noon to 7 p.m. this Saturday, Sept. 21, in and around Samuel Beckett’s Irish Gastro Pub at 2800 S. Randolph Street.

Nearly 90 shops and businesses are on track to be represented at the celebration, which will bring live music, vendors and family friendly attractions to Clarendon from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 28.

A day of German beers, food and music is coming to Crystal City later this month for the neighborhood’s annual Oktoberfest celebration.

The festival — based on a celebration of beer and Bavarian culture in Munich, Germany — will run from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28 at 2200 S. Eads Street.

From dance lessons to storytelling, free activities and events in celebration of National Hispanic Heritage Month will be held across Arlington starting next week.

The festivities kick off with the county’s third annual Hispanic Heritage Community Festival from 2-5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 7 at Tyrol Hill Park at 5101 7th Road S. The family-friendly festival will include music, snacks and opportunities to connect with county staff and leaders.

The annual Falls Church Festival is back next month, bringing the Little City a day of live entertainment, activities and food tasting with 90 vendors.

Now in its 48th year, the festival is scheduled to run from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 14, outside City Hall at 300 Park Avenue. Admission is free and food, drink and ride tickets can be purchased on site.

Arlington’s premier jazz festival is returning next month, at a venue now set to receive major renovations in coming years.

The 32nd Rosslyn Jazz Fest will take place on Saturday, Sept. 7 at Gateway Park. Featuring acts such as the two-time Grammy winner Ranky Tanky and El Laberinto Del Coco, which recently starred on NPR’s Tiny Desk series, the event promises an afternoon full of soulful grooves and lively heavy-hitters from 1-7 p.m.
