Officials at Reagan National Airport are “anticipating major delays and cancellations” as a result of a power outage affecting Terminals B and C.
The outage is affecting ticket counters and concessions, airport spokesperson Courtney Mickalonis said. Power has been restored at TSA security screening stations.
The transformer blew just after 5:00 this afternoon and sparked a small grass fire, which was promptly extinguished.
Police are reporting that numerous traffic lights are dark in the area of Yorktown High School.
Update at 4:00 p.m. — The disruption has been cleared, WTOP reports.
A possible fire has been reported on the Orange Line Metrorail tracks that run parallel to I-66, near the North Harrison Street overpass.
A woman was flown via medevac helicopter to Washington Hospital Center’s burn center after a house fire Tuesday night.
The fire broke out around 8:00 at a house on the 1000 block of North Sycamore Street in Falls Church, near the East Falls Church Metro station. Although the fire was contained before it could spread to the rest of the home, firefighters say an older woman who lived there suffered “serious burns.”

A small fire broke out at a McDonald’s restaurant past the security checkpoint in one of the terminals. The fire was extinguished within minutes, and airport spokesperson said. One person was taken to the Washington Hospital Center burn center after an apartment fire. The blaze broke out around 1:00 Saturday afternoon at a garden-style apartment complex on the 300 block of North Thomas Street.
