Long-delayed plans to redevelop aging Rosslyn office buildings and a parking garage notably involved in the Watergate scandal could be getting a fresh start.
Developer Monday Properties has recapitalized the development site at 1400 Key Blvd and 1401 Wilson Blvd, home to two 12-story office buildings.
A Chinese dumpling and noodle restaurant plans to open in Rosslyn this spring.
Yu Noodles recently signed a lease at 1515 Wilson Blvd, in the retail bay formerly held by Tom Yum District.
The suspect who was shot by police at the Rosslyn Metro station early Tuesday evening has died.
Arlington County police announced the still-unidentified suspect’s death in a press release Wednesday afternoon.
A man was shot by police at the Rosslyn Metro station near the start of the Tuesday evening rush hour.
The incident started around 3:45 p.m. when police were dispatched to the Safeway at 1525 Wilson Blvd in Rosslyn for a report of a man who pulled a knife on store employees. Around 4:15 p.m., the suspect was spotted by a pair of officers at the Metro station.
“Responding officers located an adult male matching the description of the suspect in the top floor of the Rosslyn Metro Station,” Arlington County police said on social media. “During their encounter, a struggle ensued and one officer discharged their firearm, striking the male.”
“Signal one, shots fired,” an officer could be heard saying on the police dispatch channel. “Suspect is down, he’s still conscious… we have him at gunpoint.”
The suspect was taken to a local hospital “with serious injuries” and “there is no ongoing threat to the community,” ACPD said. (The suspect was later pronounced dead at the hospital, police said Wednesday afternoon.)
“The two officers were transported to an area hospital — one with non-life threatening injuries and one for evaluation,” the department added. “At the request of Arlington County Police Department, the regional Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT) was activated to investigate the incident. The investigation is ongoing.”
The shooting drew a large police response to the area, prompting road closures and the closure of the Metro station. The station has since reopened.

A security guard has pleaded guilty to illegally shooting a trespassing teen at the Key Bridge Marriott site in Rosslyn.
Ahmed Namnoom, 54, pleaded guilty to unlawful wounding last Thursday in Arlington circuit court, a charge that carries between one and five years in prison.
Some holiday cheer is coming to Rosslyn this evening (Friday) with a tree lighting and dog-friendly happy hour featuring Santa.
The events were originally scheduled to happen on different days, with the tree lighting taking place yesterday evening — but it got pushed back due to strong winds. The twinkling Tannenbaum will now be celebrated in tandem with a “Santa Paws Yappy Hour” at Central Place Plaza, located at 1800 N. Lynn Street.

A local man is facing various charges after a violent alleged incident in the Rosslyn area Wednesday afternoon.
It happened around 1 p.m., outside of an apartment building on the 1600 block of 18th Street N. That’s also near the Rosslyn Highlands playground.
A man was carjacked Friday night in the Barcroft neighborhood.
The suspects include at least one person the victim knows, according to Arlington County police. The car was later found abandoned in the Rosslyn area.
The former space of a D.C.-based pizzeria remains vacant in Rosslyn after the restaurant closed over the summer.
A few months after &pizza’s closure at 1800 N. Lynn Street, the restaurant’s kitchenware and checkered tiles can still be seen inside. Recent permits do not indicate a new tenant at the property, which houses several other restaurants, including Nando’s Peri-Peri Chicken, sweetgreen, Happy Eatery food hall and McDonald’s.
Three suspects were apprehended this morning after an armed robbery at a local CVS store.
The robbery happened around 6:45 a.m., at the CVS next to the Courthouse Metro station. Initial reports suggest one of the suspects pulled a knife on a CVS employee before fleeing with stolen items.
