A husband-and-wife duo known for their work on the silver screen plan to release their second children’s book together after resettling in Arlington.

Brittany Scott Smith, an Emmy-winning director who has worked on “Sesame Street,” and her husband, actor Arjay Smith, release books together under the name “A.B. Smith.” Their latest book, “Wes and Morris Meet Passport Pat,” comes out on March 27.

The former Bob & Edith’s Diner location on Langston Blvd may not be vacant for long.

Chelsea Market & Deli, which currently operates a location in Courthouse Plaza, filed a liquor license application at 5050 Langston Blvd on Feb. 4. That’s roughly a week after Bob & Edith’s announced its closure on Jan. 26.


A pre-St. Patrick’s Day race centered around Ireland’s Four Courts in Courthouse will result in some road closures on Saturday.

The Arlington County Police Department plans to close the following roads from 8-11 a.m. for the Four Courts Four Miler, which begins and ends on the hill at 2051 Wilson Blvd.

A decade-long run for Rosslyn’s Barley Mac restaurant and bar came to an abrupt end yesterday (Monday).

Co-owner Andrew Lewis told ARLnow that he is evaluating next steps for the restaurant that opened in spring 2016 following “leasing difficulties” at 1600 Wilson Blvd.


A Crystal City-area coffee shop shuttered last week after less than a year in business — though the chain hopes to open another Arlington location soon.

Coffee Republic, which opened last March on the ground floor of Azure National Landing, served its last cup of joe at 3130 Potomac Avenue on Thursday.

For a second consecutive week, an Arlington Public Schools alum will be making an appearance on “Jeopardy!”

Lydia Cawley, a 2016 graduate of Washington-Lee High School (now Washington-Liberty High School), will be one of three contestants competing on the trivia show on Thursday night.


Arlington will have some representation at the Oscars this weekend after a film scored by a local resident was nominated for “Best Animated Short.”

Composer Isaac Wardell, who lives in the Westover area, will be donning a tux and heading to the 98th Academy Awards on Sunday, March 15, for his work on the film “Forevergreen” — a 13-minute short about an orphaned bear cub and a fatherly evergreen tree.
