Usually, every will must go through a probate court before execution. In some states, it may be possible to avoid probate under specific conditions. The CDC’s elevated “Community Level” for Arlington may not tell the full story, county health officials say.
Yesterday ARLnow reported that Arlington was the only jurisdiction in the immediate D.C. area to have risen to a “medium” Community Level, as defined by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. While hospitalizations here remain relatively low, the county has been above 200 new cases per week per 100,000 residents for a few days, according to Virginia Dept. of Health data, prompting the CDC’s designation.
Local Unemployment Rate Still Falling — “Arlington’s unemployment rate, which bumped up at the start of the year, dropped back down in the latest data. With 149,651 county residents in the civilian workforce and 3,192 looking for jobs, the county jobless rate stood at 2.1 percent in February, down from 2.6 percent a month before and off from 3.6 percent in February 2021.” [Sun Gazette]

(Updated at 9:40 p.m.) The man who was arrested on Sunday for robbery and carjacking after an inter-jurisdiction car chase on I-395 was awaiting trial in Fairfax County for stealing a car, court records show.
Laysohn Jones, 21, of Suitland, Maryland, had a hearing date set for May 2 for the auto theft charge, as well as a preliminary hearing for a failure to appear and charges for driving without a license and eluding police. He had been “released on recognizance,” according to court records, or released without bail when he allegedly committed the crime.
A mysterious new restaurant may be coming to Columbia Pike, potentially filling the vacant space once occupied by P. Brennan’s.
A business that goes by the name “Nightbird Restaurant & Lounge” applied late last month for a building permit at 2910 Columbia Pike, county records show. That’s the former home of P. Brennan’s Irish Pub, which was open from 2010 to 2017. The storefront has remained vacant ever since.
