Northbound I-395 and S. Glebe Road are reopening after an earlier closure caused by a vehicle that crashed into a propane tank along the highway.
“Units are on scene of a propane leak from a 500-gallon tank at the N. Glebe Rd exit on I-395 northbound after a vehicle struck the tank,” the Arlington County Fire Department said on social media at 7 p.m. “I-395 northbound is closed for the foreseeable future. The driver was not injured. Crews are actively working to mitigate the leak.”
The severe winter storm expected to arrive tonight in Northern Virginia will likely bring days of slippery conditions on Arlington’s streets and sidewalks, authorities warn.
A Winter Storm Warning goes into effect at 11 p.m. tonight ahead of around 6-10 inches of expected snow, sleet and ice. Up to 14 inches of accumulation is possible in the region, with snow expected to turn to sleet tomorrow morning and freezing rain by Sunday evening, according to the Capital Weather Gang.
