The McDonald’s at 3013 Columbia Pike is back in business after some renovations.

The location was bustling with dozens of customers this morning (Monday) after closing for at least a month. The fast food restaurant remodeled its kitchen to improve efficiency and installed a new service counter, a representative told ARLnow.

A Jersey Mike’s and a new CVS Pharmacy are in the works on Columbia Pike.

Both businesses are expected to open on the ground floor of Westmont Apartments at the corner of the Pike and S. Glebe Road, alongside other planned establishments including a Five Guys and a cosmetic studio.

Arlington County police are investigating gunfire along Columbia Pike.

The shooting happened Friday night, shortly before midnight. Initial reports suggest that several shots were fired during a fight among a large group of teens near the intersection of S. Taylor Street and the Pike, a block or two west of the Harris Teeter store.

Arlington County police are investigating a pair of gun crimes that happened along Columbia Pike on Monday.

The first happened in front of the Arlington Drafthouse around 3:45 a.m., when a fight in the middle of Columbia Pike was followed by several shots. No one was reported to be struck by the gunfire.

Columbia Pike is blocked due to a snapped utility pole and downed wires.

The incident happened along the ongoing construction zone near S. George Mason Drive, which has also seen previous emergency closures due to crews puncturing gas lines. Video posted today on social media by local public safety watcher Dave Statter shows a truck striking low-hanging wires and breaking the pole in half.

Though Summer Restaurant Week has now come to a close, some restaurants in Arlington and Falls Church are continuing the deals for a little longer.

Sabores Tapas on Columbia Pike, SER in Ballston and The Falls in Falls Church are among several businesses in the area to extend discounts on multi-course brunch, lunch and dinner menus past the official end of Restaurant Week last weekend.

The demise of an anticipated development project at a busy Columbia Pike intersection has left a social and economic void in South Arlington.

It has also left many fingers pointing at an unnamed grocery tenant — which evidence suggests may have been an Amazon Fresh — for its role in the project’s failure.
