The former Wendy’s restaurant in Courthouse is no more.

A construction crew demolished the restaurant yesterday, reducing it to a pile of rubble. As of last night, only a couple of newspaper boxes and small brick wall that was in front of the restaurant’s drive-thru lane still stood.

Wendy’s closed in December, as did its next-door neighbor, the Wells Fargo bank. The bank is next in line for demolition.

The site is set to be redeveloped into a 12-story office building that will feature Wells Fargo as its marquee ground floor retail tenant.

There are now three remaining Wendy’s restaurants in Arlington: at 5066 Lee Highway, 3431 Columbia Pike and 5050 S. Chesterfield Road, which is just off of Route 7 on the Fairfax County border.

The Burger King on Columbia Pike is getting a makeover.

Located at 3627 Columbia Pike, Burger King’s realm was looking a bit less-than-regal as of late. Over the past few days, however, workers have spruced up the interior.

More remodeling — including exterior changes — appears to be in the works.

During the interior renovation, the restaurant’s dining room was closed but its drive-thru remained open.

The KFC on N. Glebe Road in Buckingham appears to have temporarily stopped serving “finger-lickin’ good” fast food.

According to a notice posted on the restaurant’s drive-thru menu, the KFC at 70 N. Glebe Road is “currently closed due to maintenance.”

“We apologize for any inconvenience and we will re-open shortly,” the notice — which is signed from “KFC Management” — says. “Thank you for your patience and we value your patronage!”

Though maintenance is the explanation given for the closure, there’s no sign of such work happening inside the establishment at the moment. The notice also does not explain when it will reopen.

A representative from Yum! Brands — the company that owns KFC, Pizza Hut and Taco Bell — could not be immediately reached to confirm this or provide more information. There was also no answer for the location’s provided telephone number and no answering machine.

The restaurant is near the intersection of N. Glebe Road and Arlington Blvd and is across the street from a McDonald’s.

Arlington is home to only one other KFC location, at 4901 Lee Highway. There’s also a KFC just outside the county on Columbia Pike in Bailey’s Crossroads.

The Wendy’s in Courthouse has finally closed its doors to make way for a new 12-story office building.

Signs were posted in the windows at the fast food restaurant today saying that it has closed. The signs direct customers to the nearest Wendy’s, located three miles away at 5066 Lee Highway.

Also closed is the Wells Fargo Bank next door. Readers reported that the bank, which will also be torn down for the new office development, closed several weeks ago.

A sign in the windows at the bank directs customers to another Wells Fargo branch just up the road, at 2200 Clarendon Blvd.

Chick-Fil-AChick-fil-A will host a “Daddy-Daughter Date Night” at its Arlington locations Monday, Oct. 14.

The fast-food restaurant — with locations at 2200 Crystal Drive in Crystal City, in the Ballston Common Mall and at 6108 Arlington Blvd just over the border in Falls Church — will host a sit-down meal for fathers bringing their daughters from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Customers must make reservations online before Sunday, Oct. 13 to participate. Chick-fil-A will offer tableside service, and will distribute tray liners that list “conversation starters” for the father and daughter, as well as a take-home booklet called “Continuing the Conversation,” according to a Chick-fil-A press release.

“We understand the importance of father-daughter relationships and want to encourage dads to take a break from busy schedules, enjoy their daughter’s company over a meal and have fun!” the press release said.

It’s unclear if, or how many, costumed cows will be in attendance. Earlier this year Chick-fil-A hosted a medieval-themed mother-son date night.
