Arlington prosecutors have declined to pursue charges against a convenience store employee accused of slashing an alleged shoplifter with a knife.

The 24-year-old employee faced two misdemeanor charges stemming from the Dec. 16 incident, in which he allegedly pursued and confronted two men who left a 7-Eleven in Arlington Heights without paying for beer and other items.

The speed camera on Lorcom Lane has relocated to another school zone.

The camera installed in January on the 4100 block of Lorcom Lane, near Dorothy Hamm Middle School, has moved to the northbound 1100 block of Patrick Henry Drive near Swanson Middle School in Westover Village.

Two people were arrested and another is being sought after a trio of notable police incidents during the latter half of last week.

In the first incident, Arlington County police say a teen driving a stolen car northbound on I-395 tried to evade officers and struck a police cruiser, before striking two other cars and fleeing on foot.

A D.C. man is facing several charges after the alleged theft of an electric bike in Crystal City.

Police were dispatched to the neighborhood shortly after 4:30 p.m. this past Thursday after a caller reported seeing a man stealing a locked e-bike and then walking away with it while an alarm sounded.

Three people were arrested in Clarendon early this morning after a bar fight prompted a large police response.

An officer was flagged down by security at Don Tito shortly before 2 a.m. Monday, according to scanner traffic. The officer then requested backup to help “separate a couple of females inside.” That was soon followed by a more urgent request for more officers.

Two alleged thrill-seekers are facing charges after reportedly sneaking onto the roof of a Ballston apartment building and parachuting off of it earlier this year.

Around 10 p.m. on Jan. 2, a 30-year-old and a 26-year-old are alleged to have jumped from the roof of the Meridian at Ballston Commons apartments, descending more than 200 feet before landing on N. Stuart Street.

A D.C. man accused of initiating a gunfight at a Ballston apartment building early New Year’s Day did so with an illegally modified handgun, according to police.

The handgun that Malachi Rawlings allegedly used was equipped with an extended magazine and an auto sear device, “converting [it] from semi- to fully automatic,” an officer wrote in a criminal complaint.

New speeding cameras in Arlington have led to fines for over 7,000 drivers since September, new data shows.

As of January, Arlington County had collected $713,525 from motorists speeding in front of school zone cameras. A total of 13,627 alleged violations were prosecuted, but only 7,135 prosecutions have been successful so far, according to a Virginia State Police report.

Police were once again dispatched to Bar Bao — the site of almost 1,000 police calls for service between 2022 and 2024 — following a report of a quarrel around 8:53 p.m. on Sunday.

An Arlington woman is facing several charges after a hit-and-run crash in the Virginia Square area.

The incident started around 9:15 a.m. this past Saturday. Archived traffic camera video (via SafetyVid) shows a car heading southbound on N. Quincy Street, past Arlington Central Library, before barrelling into an SUV stopped at the traffic light at Fairfax Drive.
