A woman was carjacked in Pentagon City last night.

It happened shortly before 6 p.m. Thursday — on Halloween — in a parking garage on the 1200 block of S. Fern Street, near Costco. A male suspect, accompanied by a female suspect, pulled a gun and demanded the keys to the woman’s Audi A4, according to police.

Arlington County police are investigating a shooting with multiple teen victims along Columbia Pike on Halloween night.

Numerous gunshots were heard around 10:45 p.m. Thursday. Police quickly responded to the intersection of the Pike and S. Taylor Street and found three people shot, according to scanner traffic, possibly as a result of two groups of people shooting at each other from across the street.

Yorktown High School was placed in an enhanced security stance this morning due to an intruder.

The incident happened around 8 a.m. today (Wednesday) when a former student allegedly entered the school. They were contained to one of the classrooms and police were called.

A man has been arrested and charged with brandishing a gun at a local hotel.

The incident started shortly before 6 a.m. at the Ritz-Carlton hotel in Pentagon City, according to scanner traffic, and ended with an arrest at gunpoint near the Army Navy Drive side of the Pentagon City mall.

Falls Church’s new-in-2024 police chief wants one of his eventual legacies to be safety improvements that benefit the drivers, pedestrians and bicyclists who share the city’s roads.

“I’ve made it a priority — we have stepped up enforcement,” Shahram Fard told City Council members Monday night (Oct. 28). “I take traffic safety very, very seriously.”

Two people were hurt and a car was damaged as a result of an after-school fight in the Ballston area yesterday.

The incident happened around 3:30 p.m. at the intersection of Washington Blvd and N. Stafford Street, near the Washington-Liberty High School football field. It was categorized by police as an “assault by mob.”


Traffic

Arlington County police had a busy morning of crashes and other vehicular issues today (Tuesday).

Around 8:30 a.m. police responded to a reported two-vehicle crash on N. Carlin Springs Road at N. Greenbrier Street, which left an SUV overturned on its roof and the northbound lanes of the roadway blocked during the morning commute.

An Alexandria resident has been arrested and charged in the murder of two people, including an Arlington man.

The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office announced that 18-year-old Marlyn Medrano-Ortiz, a suspected MS-13 member, has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder for a double homicide in Sterling in August.

Metro train traffic was halted near Ballston after an armed man reportedly fled into the tunnels.

Police were dispatched to the 7-Eleven store across Fairfax Drive from the Ballston Metro station around 2:50 p.m. for an armed robbery. Initial reports suggest that a man robbed the store of wine, and pulled out a gun when confronted.

A man accused of masturbating in public in view of a local pickleball court is back behind bars.

Police say 50-year-old Arlington resident Alexei Rodriguez was seen peeping into homes, exposing himself and masturbating last night on the 300 block of S. Glebe Road, near Thomas Jefferson Middle School. He was arrested after a foot chase.

An Ohio man has been arrested and charged with raping a woman in a Rosslyn area apartment last year.

The crime happened in the early morning hours of Oct. 29, 2023, after police say an “unknown male suspect gained entry to the victim’s residence, entered her bedroom… then raped the victim before fleeing the residence on foot.”

An arrest has been made in connection to the after-hours theft of more than 25 cellphones from a store in the Lee-Harrison Shopping Center.

A 25-year-old suspect was apprehended yesterday (Tuesday) as police executed a search warrant, police said. It happened at a house on N. Florida Street, in the Yorktown neighborhood, less than half a mile from the electronics store he is accused of burglarizing earlier this month, a witness told ARLnow.
