School is out and it’s officially time to kick off summer break.
It looks like a great weekend weather wise for graduation parties, trips to the pool and other end-of-school celebrations. Saturday and Sunday will be sunny with pleasant highs of 83 and 84, perfect weather for going to the Animal Adoption Fair or other weekend events.
Two-time Arlington County Board candidate Alan Howze is moving to Kansas City.
Howze, who was twice defeated by John Vihstadt in back-to-back races in 2014, announced the news of his impending move on Facebook this afternoon.
(Updated at 4 p.m.) Candy and booze are set to star in Crystal City’s al fresco film series later this year.
The Crystal City Business Improvement District’s “Sweets and Sips” flicks for Crystal Screen in September are slated to include four movies that feature chocolate and wine. Initially, the organization planned to screen Star Wars movies this summer, but were unable to show them.

For years, craft breweries that are large enough have offered tours for the curious. But one brewery near our area is going beyond the tour to add more reasons to visit the Delaware shore. Dogfish Head Craft Brewery, which has grown significantly since 1995, is raising the stakes. With brewery tours every day of the week, a boutique motel, and two restaurants at the site of the original brew pub, Dogfish is becoming a tourist attraction on par with the beach and outlets.
The Earth Treks climbing gym in Crystal City is expected to open soon, perhaps by late July.
ARLnow reported last year that the gym in Crystal City was expected to open in “late spring,” however the opening date has since been pushed back.

Anibal Castellanos, a 36-year-old Arlington resident, has been arrested and charged with burglary and attempted rape in connection to the June 19 attack.
