Road closures scheduled for Army Ten-Miler race

Several roads will close temporarily for the 40th annual Army Ten-Miler race this Sunday, Oct. 13.

Some streets in and around Rosslyn, Crystal City and the Pentagon will be affected. Closures will begin at 5 a.m. and last until 12:30 p.m.

D.C.-area salon, once frequented by Kamala Harris, opens Crystal City location

A popular D.C.-area nail salon opened its first Northern Virginia location in Crystal City over the weekend.

Nailsaloon, voted “Best Mani-Pedi” in Washingtonian’s 2023 Reader Picks, opened for business on Sunday at 1900 Crystal Drive on the business’ 10th anniversary.

#FlakeNews: Snowplow naming contest kicks off in Arlington

From “Snowy-Wan Kenobi” to “#FlakeNews,” Arlington is seeking suggestions on whimsical names for this year’s fleet of snowplows.

Members of the public have until Monday, Oct. 21 to submit “the most clever and pun-filled (yet appropriate) names” for the plows that will clear the county’s streets in the event of at least two inches of snowfall.

New Kaldi’s Social House opens near Potomac Yard with cocktails and a dinner menu

Kaldi’s Social House has soft launched its second Arlington location in the Potomac Yard area, with plans to be fully operational by next week.

The new cafe and restaurant at 3639 S. Glebe Road, near Crystal City, soft opened yesterday (Monday). It aims for a somewhat different ambience than the eatery’s other spots in Clarendon and Silver Spring, Director of Operations Sean Swartz told ARLnow.

Pizzeria serving Roman-style pies aims to open next year in Rosslyn

A forthcoming pizza restaurant in Rosslyn plans to serve up Roman-style pies of the rectangular variety.

Ravenna Pizza advertises a menu with 13 varieties of sharp-cornered pizza, alongside salads, homemade gelato and Italian desserts. Owner Mustafa Durran plans to open in the former spot of Capriotti’s Sandwich Shop at 1500 Wilson Blvd by early to mid-January.

Golden retrievers Ellie and Emma — who have over 14 million social media followers as the faces of Golden Retriever Life — are among a handful of “furfluencers” featured in Target’s new “Cuddle Collab” merchandise collection.

French bistro slated to open at new office building in Va. Square

A European-inspired bistro by the founders of For Five Coffee Roasters is slated to open in Virginia Square’s new nine-story office building next year.

The restaurant, The Angie, is expected to open in spring 2025, developer Skanska announced today (Friday). The “American French” concept includes 162 total seats, outdoor dining, a full-service bar, a barista bar, a lounge and a private dining room, according to a news release.
