Arlington Tops ‘Hardest-Working’ List — “Coworking Cafe’s list of the hardest-working cities, based on a combination of factors, puts Arlington, Virginia at the top of the list. Alexandria ranks No. 2. Its report, which ranks cities on work, productivity and efficiency, notes Arlington has the highest average weekly work hours, at 41 hours a week.” [WTOP, CoworkingCafe]

Arlington Apartments Remain Pricey — “Despite a small dip month-over-month, median rental rates in the county were sixth highest among the 100 urban areas monitored by Apartment List. Over the preceding year, Arlington rents grew 5.9 percent, better than across the D.C. region (up  3.2%), statewide (up 3.6%) and nationally (down 1%).” [Gazette Leader]

For new condominiums, this last cycle has been a bit sleepy. For those wanting to own a piece of Arlington, it has been block after block of attractive new rentals, but no chance to own. If you are in the market for a new condominium, there isn’t a single new one on the market today to consider, either in presale or recently delivered with a model to tour. An uptick in paid holidays for 12-month APS employees rankles School Board watchdog and some teachers

School Board watchdog group Arlington Parents for Education (APE) is asking the auditor for Arlington Public Schools to dive into the potential impacts of an increase in paid holidays for year-round staff.

Two school years ago, new religious and cultural holidays were added to the calendar and Supt. Francisco Durán announced APS would fully close for winter and spring breaks. APE said in a new letter to the auditor that this decision could cost millions and may hurt morale of 10-month employees, who are not paid for these days off.

It features a time-trial pool swim, a circuit bike course on closed streets, and an on-road run to the finish on the track. Crime report: Indecent exposure arrest in Rosslyn, airbag thefts on Columbia Pike

A 39-year-old man has been arrested and charged with “simulated masturbation” after an incident in Rosslyn.

Police responded to the area of Langston Boulevard and N. Oak Street shortly after 1 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 1, for a man who was reportedly exposing himself.

Andy’s Pizza set to replace former Virginia Square deli

A D.C.-area pizza shop known for its pepperoni cups and specialty slices appears to be opening in Virginia Square.

Andy’s Pizza will replace the now-closed Ballston Place Gourmet, a local deli operated by the Chang family since 2004. It sold everything from wine and local beer to breakfast platters, Korean bibimbap, condiments and microwave popcorn.

Tattoo lovers from all over are expected to gather in Arlington next weekend for the DC Tattoo Expo.

The 13th annual event, beginning on Friday, Feb. 16, has been “completely revamped” from years prior, according to its hosts, Exposed Temptations Tattoo and Baller Incorporated.
