Acme Pie Co. has reopened for business in a new Columbia Pike storefront, with the same pinball machines and a new breakfast menu.

The longtime pie shop recently completed the move from 2803 Columbia Pike to 2406 Columbia Pike, where the Columbia Pike Deli closed earlier this year.

Developer Christopher Companies has abandoned years-long plans to turn the Elkins Building at 2801 Columbia Pike into a multifamily building with 88 units, Angela Kostelecky, senior architect at Devereaux and Associates, told ARLnow.

A decades-old CVS Pharmacy has completed its relocation on Columbia Pike, shuttering its former location amid new redevelopment plans.

Workers could be seen removing supplies from the former store at the Fillmore Gardens Shopping Center on Friday. Its replacement, located about half a mile away on the ground floor of Westmont Apartments at 3301 Columbia Pike, opened in late March.

Newly resurrected redevelopment plans for an abandoned Columbia Pike strip mall have leaders optimistic that an end to a long and embarrassing saga is in sight.

Developer Toll Brothers filed plans last week to rebuild the 2600 block of Columbia Pike as a mixed-use project with 262 housing units and 16,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space. It’s the successor to The Elliot, a planned development at the Fillmore Gardens Shopping Center that fell through last year after a ground-floor grocery tenant backed out.

An Arlington pinball arcade has opened a second location above the Rosslyn Metro station.

The Pinball Basement is now operating on the first level of 1700 N. Moore Street underneath the Upside on Moore food hall, Upside Director of Operations Sam Groh told ARLnow. The arcade offers daily playing passes and monthly memberships.

Lost Dog Cafe’s owner is weighing his options as ongoing Columbia Pike construction and region-wide challenges for restaurants have him concerned about his bottom line.

The restaurant at 2920 Columbia Pike experienced a 10% drop in sales from 2023 to 2024, and if the current trend continues, owner James Barnes expects that number to dip another 8.75% by the end of this year.

The 2025 New York Cat & Dog Film Festivals are coming to the Arlington Cinema and Drafthouse at 2903 Columbia Pike. It’s a two-night event on Tuesday, May 6 and Wednesday, May 7 “celebrating the love, charm, and companionship of our feline and canine friends.”

Arlington County police are investigating after gunfire rang out on Columbia Pike late Saturday night.

It happened around 11:45 p.m. near the Liberty gas station on the 2300 block of Columbia Pike. Two people got into a dispute, leading to one getting of their car and firing a shot at the other person in their vehicle, police said.

Two people were arrested and another is being sought after a trio of notable police incidents during the latter half of last week.

In the first incident, Arlington County police say a teen driving a stolen car northbound on I-395 tried to evade officers and struck a police cruiser, before striking two other cars and fleeing on foot.
