A lauded Chinese fusion restaurant and bar will celebrate a grand opening in Crystal City later this week.

Bar Chinois is set to open at 4 p.m. Thursday at 244 19th Court S.#105, on the ground floor of the Grace and Reva apartments. It will be restaurant’s second location, joining its acclaimed debut spot across the Potomac.

King Street Oyster Bar has cancelled longtime plans to open a Pentagon City restaurant.

The new oyster bar was reportedly on the rocks in December when Rappaport began marketing its leased space at 480 11th Street S. to prospective tenants. Now, the deal is officially off, a Rappaport representative told ARLnow in an email.

A celebrity chef-partnered food hall and delivery service plans to open in Rosslyn as part of a new D.C.-area expansion.

Wonder, which aims to make “great food more accessible” by hosting various celebrity chef-founded restaurants, recently applied for a permit to renovate “an existing restaurant” at 1771 N. Pierce Street. This is the same address as the former Rosslyn Foxtrot.

Scolapasta has shifted gears in Ballston.

The fast-casual Italian restaurant has abandoned its plans to open this summer at 4219 Fairfax Drive, across the street from the Ballston Metro. Instead, owner Burak Temel told ARLnow that he intends to open a kiosk in the food court at Ballston Quarter.

Van Leeuwen Ice Cream is expanding in Arlington, with plans to replace a longtime Clarendon ice cream shop and potentially open another location in Ballston.

The website for The Crossing Clarendon lists the national ice cream franchise as “coming soon” to the spot that Nicecream currently occupies at 2831 Clarendon Blvd. Permit records also indicate that Van Leeuwen, which did not respond to a request for comment, is considering a location at 4075 Wilson Blvd in Ballston.

Capital Doner is “opening soon,” according to new storefront signs at 1731 Wilson Blvd, where The Simple Greek restaurant has closed.

Buffalo & Bergen hopes to open a fourth shop at 1028 N. Garfield Street in Clarendon, where UnCommon Luncheonette closed last fall. Inspired by soda shops in the Big Apple, the restaurant offers classic deli food, egg creams and cocktails.

A new cafe in a historic Falls Church building is expected to open in two weeks.

Little Falls Cafe, a project by the founders of Pupatella, has set an early May opening date in a renovated building at 106 Little Falls Street, co-owner Anastasiya Algarme told ARLnow. It plans to offer European fare with a colorful, vintage interior full of thrifted decorations.

A popular D.C. destination for Italian subs is opening a Ballston location tomorrow (Friday).

Grazie Grazie, a Philadelphia-inspired Italian deli, is preparing to open its first Virginia location at 4121 Wilson Blvd, where Farmbird closed three years ago. The new shop’s menu features over a dozen sandwiches and seven signature pizzas.

A new Chinese restaurant hopes to open at Westpost at National Landing in early May.

1983 Chinese Cuisine is currently wrapping up interior design and finalizing its menu at 1101 S. Joyce Street in Pentagon City, manager Cuong Vo told ARLnow. It will fill a vacancy left by Bonefish Grill last winter.
