Arlington’s congressman and both of Virginia’s U.S. senators condemned today’s military strikes on Iran, calling the attack unconstitutional and demanding that Congress reconvene.
The U.S. and Israel launched a major attack on Iran overnight, with strikes hitting areas across the country including around the offices of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in Tehran. President Donald Trump, in a video announcing “major combat operations,” called on Iranians to “seize control of your destiny” by rising up against their government.
Expect sunshine and a high of around 62 during the day, accompanied by calm winds shifting to the south at about 5 mph. As for Saturday night, the skies will remain mostly clear, with the temperature dropping to approximately 42 and a gentle breeze coming from the southeast. See more from Weather.gov.

Freddie’s Beach Bar, the long-running LGBTQ+ bar on Crystal City’s 23rd Street S. restaurant row, is celebrating its 25th anniversary with a party this Sunday.
The March 1 celebration at 555 23rd Street S. is set for 7-9 p.m. and will include music, food, drinks and giveaways, according to a press release.

Virginia’s two U.S. senators have endorsed Rep. Don Beyer (D) in his bid for reelection in Virginia’s 8th Congressional District.
Senators Mark Warner (D) and Tim Kaine (D) both announced their support for Beyer yesterday (Wednesday), according to a press release from Beyer’s campaign.

Teens Attack Woman — “At approximately 6:42 p.m. on February 25, police were dispatched to the report of an assault. Upon arrival, it was determined the female victim was outside when she observed a group of approximately 20 juveniles, some of whom were pouring a beverage on another juvenile and attempted to intervene during which the approximately five juvenile suspects became aggressive and assaulted the victim. An article published by The Sun, the U.S. counterpart to the UK newspaper, has been substantially changed after a reader pointed out that it plagiarized reporting by ARLnow.
The Feb. 25 article, “Time to say goodbye to Buffalo Wild Wings restaurant after chain confirms final day of business for 15-year-old outlet,” started with a nearly line-for-line copy — with some minor wording changes — of ARLnow’s “Buffalo Wild Wings closes in Crystal City after 15 years,” published Feb. 23.

Police are looking for one or two suspects who have been robbing local businesses while armed.
The robberies happened around 8 p.m. the past two days, each by a 20-something year-old man wearing dark clothing and a face mask. On both nights, a man brandished a gun and demanded cash at a pair of nearby businesses.
