Cybersecurity Firm Acquired — “Dataminr, a New York tech firm that helps businesses and government agencies spot threats to their operations, has acquired Arlington cybersecurity company ThreatConnect Inc. for $290 million… Datminr’s local office is in the Courthouse section of Arlington and ThreatConnect’s office is nearby in Ballston. Local Consumer Sentiment Turns Negative — “Consumers and businesses in Greater Washington are growing more pessimistic about economic conditions locally, as the region faces rising unemployment from federal cuts and the uncertain economic effects of a government shutdown. Traffic

Only one lane of the inbound 14th Street Bridge was getting by a late morning crash on the Virginia side of the span.

At least two vehicles were involved in the crash, and one overturned. Arlington police — plus firefighters and medics from D.C. — were on scene, directing traffic and checking on injuries.

Rosslyn Office Building Sells — “Velocis sold 1530 Wilson Blvd. for $28 million, less than half its 2020 price. Douglas Development affiliates purchased the 78% leased Rosslyn office building. The 10-story building houses tenants including SAS, Blue Origin, and Cailabs.” [WBJ]

Update 2/20/26: The felony charge has been dropped, but the driver was found guilty of two misdemeanors: assault and battery and property damage under $1,000. He has received a suspended six-month sentence.

A 58-year-old Arlington man is in jail after police say he purposely struck a bicyclist with his car following an argument.

Someone who was helping a motorist change a tire on the side of I-395 in Arlington was struck and seriously injured by a passing driver.

The incident happened early Friday morning (Oct. 17), around 12:45 a.m., near the Pentagon and the Route 1 interchange.

Courthouse Hotel for Sale — “The owner of an Arlington extended-stay hotel is abandoning its plan to convert the property to residences and is now looking to sell the property instead. Five years after winning approval for the conversion, Fulton, Maryland-based Sunburst Hospitality has tapped KLNB and HREC Investment Advisors to market for sale the 187-room Arlington Court Suites Hotel at 1200 N. While a debate among the candidates for Virginia Attorney General focused on violent rhetoric, a debate watch party in Arlington descended into physical violence.

Police were called to Mister Days on N. Highland Street around 6:45 p.m. Thursday after a fight broke out at the debate watch party held by the Arlington County Republican Committee. A video posted online, which includes explicit language, shows a man being restrained and ordered to leave the restaurant while a female companion records the incident and is later also ordered to leave.

As happened during last night’s rush hour, Key Bridge again closed to traffic heading into D.C. Friday morning.

The closure was announced at around 10:15 a.m. and appears to be associated with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s visit to Washington. The Ukrainian embassy is in Georgetown, near the entrance to the Key Bridge. The bridge was also closed for a few hours in August due to a Zelensky visit.
