Fmr. Nats Manager Selling House — “Former Washington Nationals Manager Dave Martinez is ready to say goodbye to his Arlington home. Martinez was fired July 7, along with General Manager Mike Rizzo. His Crystal City home is now listed as “coming soon” in Bright MLS, the region’s multiple listing service. The five-bedroom, four-and-a-half bath home, spanning 4,500 square feet, will list for $2.5 million as soon as Thursday.” [WBJ]

Move-Ins Start at The Wendy — “Greystar… recently welcomed residents to its newest high-rise community… The Wendy totals 231 residential units that average 913 square feet. Hearings on Midair Crash — “The National Transportation Safety Board will hold three days of hearings starting Wednesday on January’s midair collision between an American Airlines passenger jet and an Army helicopter over the nation’s capital that killed 67 people. The goal: Pinpoint exactly what went wrong and what can be done to avoid similar midair crashes between passenger planes and military aircraft. The accident was the nation’s deadliest plane crash since November 2001.” [Associated Press]

Robbery Near Langston Blvd — “2500 block of N. Harrison Street. At approximately 8:40 a.m. on July 26, police were dispatched to the report of a robbery. Upon arrival, it was determined the male suspect entered the business, concealed merchandise in bags and walked towards the exit of the store without payment. Construction Scam Warning — “Several community members have reported individuals posing as contractors, in some cases stating they are Arlington County contractors, going door-to-door to offer driveway sealing, roof repairs and other construction/property improvement work that is ultimately not performed following the exchange of a monetary advance in the form of cash, check or electronic payment.” [ACPD]

Indecent Exposure in Ballston — “At approximately 1:26 a.m. on July 24, an officer observed the male suspect in the area exposing himself. The officer confronted the suspect and subsequently detained him. During the course of the investigation, it was determined the suspect had previously exposed himself on July 20 and additional warrants were obtained for the prior incident.” [ACPD]

A 27-year-old man was arrested over the weekend after allegedly trying to knife someone during an early morning altercation near Clarendon’s bar district.

It happened around 2 a.m. Sunday at the intersection of Washington Blvd and N. Garfield Street. The man “became agitated” while talking to the male victim and tried to strike him with a knife, according to Arlington County police.

Police Issue Scam Warning — “Spoofing is when a caller deliberately falsifies the information transmitted to your caller ID display to disguise their identity. Victims have reported receiving unsolicited phone calls from individuals fraudulently claiming to be members of the Arlington County Police Department. Gateway Park History — “The creation of Gateway Park is a remarkable story, connected with the complicated history of the creation of Interstate 66. It took decades to get I-66 built in Arlington. Planning for the highway began in the 1950s, but the Arlington portion was not completed and opened until 1982.
