New food disposal bins have appeared near 14 multifamily properties across the county, inviting apartment dwellers to divert food waste and food-soiled paper away from the landfill and into the county’s composting program.
A bank in Crystal City was robbed Monday morning by a man who reportedly fled in a taxi.
The robbery happened around 11:30 a.m. at the Bank of America branch at 1425 S. Eads Street, across from Amazon’s HQ2.

Arlington’s Torri Huske will be coming home from Paris with five Olympic medals, after a world record performance in the pool Sunday.
Huske and her fellow women’s 4x100m medley relay final teammates — Regan Smith, Lilly King and Gretchen Walsh — captured gold and set a new world record, all while besting second place Australia by a full 3.5 seconds.
Arlington County police are on scene of a barricade situation in the Westover area.
It’s happening at an apartment building on the 5700 block of Washington Blvd. Police were originally dispatched around noon for a report of a woman screaming for help amid a domestic dispute with a man.
