Construction on an elevated bus stop island, meant to improve safety at an intersection in Rosslyn, is scheduled to begin soon.
The quick-build safety project between the intersections of Clarendon Blvd with N. Pierce and N. Queen streets will impact Metrobus routes 4B and 38B as well as ART Route 45. In addition to elevating the bus stop, it will raise an existing protected bike lane on Clarendon Blvd.
Temporary storage of county buses at a Virginia Square parking lot could continue for another year.
A use permit for 1425 N. Quincy Street, currently used as a storage site for 29 ART buses, was previously renewed in January and scheduled for a six-month review. Now, a county report recommends renewing the permit until July 31, 2025 — at which point work on the permanent ART Operations and Maintenance Facility in Green Valley should be complete.

To generate some savings in its new budget, Arlington County is targeting low-performing bus routes in North Arlington.
It proposes axing one route between Courthouse and Ballston, along Lorcom Lane, that saw just 2.1 passengers per hour in the 2023 fiscal year (ART 62) for a savings of $348,613. Two bus routes — ART 61 and 53, serving the Ft. Myer and Radnor Heights neighborhoods and the Ballston to East Falls Church Metro stations — saw just 3.4 and 4.3 passengers per hour, respectively could be combined for a savings of $316,940.
