A new option for fried treats and drinks with East Asian flavors expects to open this spring in the Ballston Quarter food hall.

Luna Bar is planning to open by April at 4238 Wilson Blvd, Marketing Director Matt Hall told ARLnow. The bar is also planning locations in Tyson’s Corner and Rockville, Md.

Fresh, hibachi-style meals are coming to Bronson Bierhall’s patio this weekend. One caveat: the meals are for dogs.

The Ballston bar and patio at 4100 Fairfax Drive is hosting a live hibachi event for dogs at 2 p.m. this Saturday, March 1, on its outdoor patio. A grill and dog-friendly ingredients will be supplied by Bogey’s Mix, a new dog food company in Northern Virginia.

The first Arlington location of a popular D.C.-area pizzeria is on track to open next month.

Andy’s Pizza signage has gone up at 901 N. Pollard Street in Virginia Square as the restaurant plans to open by late March, Chris Cutler, director of operations, told ARLnow.

Preparations to demolish the shuttered Ballston Macy’s have begun as several hundred apartments and an as-yet-unnamed grocery store are expected in 2028.

Interior work began last month at 685 N. Glebe Road, where general contractor John Moriarty & Associates hopes to receive a demolition permit “any day now” and, if all goes as expected, complete demolition by August.

The driver of a pickup truck involved in a fatal crash in Ballston last month is still hospitalized, local officials told ARLnow.

A criminal investigation into the incident, which killed a 32-year-old doctoral candidate and snarled traffic in Ballston for hours, is still underway, Commonwealth’s Attorney Parisa Dehghani-Tafti told ARLnow.

Traffic camera footage (below) shows a gray pickup truck traveling eastbound on Wilson Blvd before slamming into another vehicle — which had just turned onto Wilson from N. Vermont Street — around 2:40 p.m.

Construction contracts for new pickleball facilities and improvements to Central Library are on the agenda as Arlington County Board members meet on Saturday, Jan. 25.

It will be the Board’s first working meeting of the year, and follows a Jan. 7 organizational meeting at which Takis Karantonis was elected chair for 2025.
