Fire Works Pizza in Courthouse is partnering with a D.C. area blood donor service to host a blood drive next week.

People who donate blood to Inova Blood Donor Services from 12:30-4:30 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 19, will receive $5 off any menu item at the pizzeria. Appointments will take place in Inova’s Bloodmobile, which will be parked outside the restaurant at 2350 Clarendon Blvd.

A small shop in Courthouse Plaza selling authentic Turkish grocery items has been gaining a following since opening in late February.

Avrasya Market, named after the Turkish word for Eurasia, is a 230 square-foot room packed to the brim with all kinds of Turkish goods. The shelves are stocked with spices, canned goods, comfort foods, condiments, beverages, cookies, pastries, chocolates, nuts, Turkish delight and more.

Five juvenile suspects were detained by police Wednesday evening, potentially in connection to the series of thefts from the Clarendon Lululemon store.

It started with officers observing a group of teens outside of the activewear store at 2847 Clarendon Blvd, which since mid-June has seen at least four thefts involving groups of young suspects grabbing armfuls of merchandise and fleeing.

Arlington County police say an 18-year-old Alexandria man shot and critically wounded another man in Courthouse last month.

ACPD announced the arrest of A-Jay Jones today, saying he pulled the trigger outside of a Courthouse hotel early on the morning of May 19. Police previously said the shooting happened as a result of a dispute between two groups of people.

A man was shot and critically injured in a hotel parking lot in Courthouse early Sunday morning.

The shooting happened just before 3 a.m. on the 1200 block of N. Courthouse Road, according to Arlington County police, and as of Sunday afternoon the victim remains in critical condition at a local hospital.

A forthcoming apartment building at the former site of a Wendy’s in Courthouse is named — wait for it — The Wendy.

The 231-unit building, which broke ground in late 2022, is expected to open this fall, according to signage.

An Alexandria man is facing a battery of charges after police say he tried to take an officer’s gun while being arrested for theft.

The incident happened around 6 p.m. this past Friday in the Courthouse area. The alleged shoplifting took place on the 2000 block of Clarendon Blvd, which includes a 7-Eleven and an Ace hardware store.

Located at 2424 Wilson Blvd, the multi-story sports bar and restaurant opened in 2010 and became a popular destination thanks in large part to its open air rooftop deck and its ability to host events, including local and state political gatherings.

Greenheart Juice Shop is now open in Courthouse.

The shop held a grand opening Saturday for its new location in the former Rāko Coffee space at 2016 Wilson Blvd. It is the second Greenheart location in Arlington after an outpost opened in Ballston last year.
