It’s a winter wonderland outside, as Arlington and the D.C. area get our first snowfall of the season.
Across Arlington, traffic cameras show that main roads are mostly clear. Few problems have been reported, according to scanner traffic, with the notable exception of a multi-vehicle crash near the intersection of Patrick Henry Drive and Wilson Blvd in western Arlington. Police requested a salt truck to the area and temporarily closed the road.
An annual rally honoring victims of vehicle crashes in Northern Virginia is scheduled to begin at Gateway Park in Rosslyn this weekend.
The event, hosted by Northern Virginia Families for Safe Streets, will start at 10 a.m. Sunday, the World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims. Organizers hope to advance the following goals.

The crash happened just before 9:45 p.m. Wednesday near the exit to Washington Blvd, about 10 minutes after an officer reported making a traffic stop in the same area. Officers were said to be on scene and performing CPR on a driver within minutes of the crash, according to scanner traffic.
A scooter rider narrowly avoided serious injury or death this morning, in an incident caught on camera.

A wanted man’s attempt to flee law enforcement failed after he crashed his car into a fire hydrant in Arlington Ridge, police say.
Officers spotted the 27-year-old along the 2900 block of S. Glebe Road around 8:40 p.m. He tried to drive off but crashed into a fire hydrant, then tried to flee on foot but fell and injured himself, according to an Arlington County Police Department crime report.
Virginia State Police are looking for the driver of a Porsche bearing Montana tags, after a crash that injured a trooper.

It happened around 8:15 a.m. on the 300 block of S. Highland Street, a couple of blocks from Thomas Jefferson Middle School, in the Arlington Heights neighborhood.
A 42-year-old Arlington man is facing a number of charges, including DUI, after a crash that shut down a busy on-ramp Friday afternoon.
It started around 4:45 p.m., police say, when a driver veered off the road and struck another car at the Route 50 and Washington Blvd interchange. That driver then allegedly tried to climb a fence before returning to his car.
