A two-vehicle accident resulted in an SUV flipping on its side at the intersection of 15th Street and N. Greenbrier Street this morning in the Tara-Leeway Heights neighborhood, near Virginia Hospital Center.

The accident happened around 8:15 a.m. and involved a Toyota Camry and a Toyota RAV4 SUV. It appears that the Camry somehow broadsided the RAV4, causing it to flip on its side. The intersection is a two-way stop, with the stop signs in place for traffic on 15th Street.

A U.S. Postal Service mail delivery truck flipped on its side in the parking lot of a 7-Eleven store this afternoon.

The accident happened just after 1:00 p.m. outside the 7-Eleven at the corner of Old Dominion Drive and N. Vernon Street, across from the Lee Heights Shops. The mail carrier who was driving the truck told police he was trying to park when his foot somehow became stuck against the accelerator, causing the truck to hop the curb and do a 360 degree turn across the southbound lanes of Old Dominion Drive, before finally striking a parked sedan and flipping on its side.

(Updated at 2:50 p.m.) The Alexandria Fire Department and U.S. Park Police were on the scene of a car that flipped on the George Washington Parkway this afternoon.

The Honda landed on its roof in the median between the northbound and southbound lanes, in the area between Reagan National Airport and Daingerfield Island. There’s no word on injuries, but we hear that the driver was not trapped and did not need to be extricated by rescue personnel.

An SUV lost control and flipped over on a busy Courthouse street this afternoon.

Initial reports suggest the Ford Escape SUV experienced a mechanical problem that caused the throttle to become stuck as it turned onto Courthouse Road. According to witnesses, the vehicle hit a curb, flipped over, hit two sidewalk trees, hit the front of a BMW, and came to rest near Bayou Bakery, one block from Arlington County Police headquarters.

A car flipped on its side on a residential street near Washington-Lee High School this morning.

A Honda sedan was traveling eastbound on 15th Street N., near N. Vermont Street, when the driver hit the curb and part of a tree, causing the car to flip on its side. Airbags were deployed. The driver made it out of the car safely and was not reported to be injured.

A car flipped on its roof in residential Ashton Heights last night, but luckily no one was seriously hurt.

The accident happened on the 500 block of N. Nelson Street just before 8:00 p.m. The car flipped over after hitting another vehicle, though the collision itself did not significantly damage either car, according to a witness. The driver of the overturned vehicle was able to get herself out of the car and was not seriously hurt.

An overturned vehicle is tying up traffic on westbound eastbound I-66.

A car flipped on its roof in the eastbound lanes near Great Falls Street just before 2:30 this afternoon. Initial reports suggest paramedics are evaluating at least one patient. Firefighters are working to reach another person who’s trapped in the vehicle.
